Our Story

about

Gigino Trattoria opened its doors in August of 1994. The owners; Bob Giraldi and Phil Suarez along with executive chef Luigi Celentano have kept Gigino flourishing and Gigino has become a mainstay in the ever-changing Tribeca neighborhood. Chef Celentano creates both menu and wine list, with daily specials utilizing seasonally fresh seafood, game and vegetables. Gigino prides itself on fact that all our dishes are prepared to order, almost all our pastas and breads are house made, fresh fish specials are featured on our “specials blackboard” daily and we have the best pizza in Tribeca!

Bob directed and produced an independent feature film, “Dinner Rush,” starring Danny Aiello. The film was shot almost exclusively inside Gigino Trattoria, and tells the story of New York’s latest hotspot where love, gambling, food, and money are all on the menu. Dinner Rush was released in 2001. Luigi’s acting debut (as the chef in the movie) gives you a peek into our kitchen.

Bob and Phil also started Gigino at Wagner Park with Luigi, once again, as the Executive Chef. This popular inside/outside café is located at the southern tip of Manhattan, with the most spectacular views of the New York harbor, a great place to dine with friends and family, especially in the summer months on our outdoor patio.
